Today, Impinj released a new version of the Impinj R700 RAIN RFID reader firmware including improvements in the Impinj IoT device interface, web UI, and Custom Application Partition (CAP) functionality. The improvements in version 8.1 of the firmware includes:
Configuration Enhancements
- Support configuration of hostname, password, and network services via the web UI
- Support configuration of reader password via the reader configuration settings in the REST API
- Support a configuration setting via the IoT interface that allows for reporting of XPC words in a tag report when the reader is performing a tag inventory
IoT Connectivity and Security Enhancements
- Ability to configure MQTT connect and disconnect messages via the web UI and REST API
- Support of MD5 digest authentication for password protection when using HTTP communication
Embedded Application Enhancements
- Allow real-time access to USB peripheral devices from applications running in the CAP
- Support option for encrypting and signing embedded application files developed via the Impinj R700 reader ETK and stored in the CAP
- Added ability to load certificates to verify CAP authenticity via the web UI and the REST API
